League One duo Coventry City and Sunderland are among the teams interested in signing Dylan McGeouch this summer, according to a reliable football journalist on Twitter.

Alan Nixon is reporting that Coventry, Sunderland, Hibernian and Aberdeen are the main teams in the hunt for McGeouch at the moment.

The 25-year-old is set to become a free agent at the end of this month when his Hibernian contract is up.

But Hibs want to keep him amid growing interest in his signature.

Rangers and Blackburn Rovers have previously been linked with the attacking midfielder, as well as Queens Park Rangers and Brentford.

Sunderland's new manager Jack Ross is keen to bring players in from Scotland, having won the PFA Scotland Manager of the Year award for his work at St Mirren last season.

McGeouch is a top target on a free transfer but they face competition from promotion rivals Coventry, who are hoping to bring him back to the Ricoh Arena.

The twice-capped Scotland international played eight games for the Sky Blues during his loan spell from Celtic in 2014.

The Verdict

McGeouch would be a coup for either League One side.

Although Coventry fans will remember the inconsistent impact substitute of 2014, he is now a much better player and would be a real asset for their promotion push.

Sunderland need reinforcements in midfield and McGeouch would certainly provide creativity.
