It's safe to say that there is quite a bridge in quality between Newcastle United and Sunderland at this moment in time.

The Black Cats are currently languishing in League One, and will be hoping they can make a timely return to the Championship this season under the guidance of Phil Parkinson.

Whilst Newcastle are sat 15th in the Premier League table and have put in some impressive performances in recent weeks to pull clear of the relegation zone in the top-flight.

One player that has been impressive for Steve Bruce's side is Allan Saint-Maximin, who has made seven appearances for the Magpies since arriving from OGC Nice in the summer transfer window.

The winger issued a sly dig at Sunderland recently on Twitter by suggesting that he won't have the chance to score his first goal against Newcastle's bitter rivals.

It's safe to say that plenty of Sunderland fans didn't take too well to the midfielder's latest tweet.
