The new Championship season got underway on Friday night as Luton Town and Middlesbrough shared the points in an eventful game at Kenilworth Road.

Boro took the lead early on with Ashley Fletcher heading home from close-range, but Sonny Bradley thumped home a stunning equaliser.

The Championship new boys then took a shock lead through summer signing, Martin Cranie, before Britt Assombalonga levelled things up before the break.

Lewis Wing then gave Jonathan Woodgate’s side the lead for the second time in the game with a stunning strike from distance, and then Assombalonga spurned a golden chance to give Boro breathing space as he missed a penalty shortly after.

They were made to pay for that miss as well as James Collins tapped home to give Luton a deserved point in a thrilling 3-3 draw on the night.

Plenty of Luton Town fans took to social media to issue high-praise for their side after the draw.
