West Brom are well on their way to the Championship and it'll be interesting to see how they bounce back next season.

It's been a very sub-par season for the Baggies in the Premier League and, barring the most incredible of turnarounds, they'll be in the second tier for 2018/19.

Summer signings will be crucial, then, and here at Football League World we've been discussing if Matej Vydra would be an ideal acquisition.

Here's the verdict:

Sam Rourke

Vydra has of course already had a loan spell at the Baggies, where it didn't go quite to plan.

If Derby don't go up, Vydra will be a man in demand and Championship bound West Brom could do worse than re-signing the 25-year-old.

He is a proven goalscorer, and could ultimately fire West Brom back up.

Alfie Burns

He’d be a superb signing for West Brom, but I can’t see why he would return to the Hawthorns.

West Brom are heading for the Championship, and whilst they will be looking to make an impact in the transfer window, I can’t see them tempting Vydra to move out of Derby.

The 25-year-old has been terrific this season and will be a player that interests the Baggies, but I can’t see him moving.

Jay Williams

West Brom have tried this one before and it didn't work.

But now that they are likely to be playing Championship football next season, the Baggies need to be making Championship signings.

And with Jay Rodriguez and Salomon Rondon probably likely to depart, Vydra would be the perfect striker to guide them back to the Premier League as he knows where the net is at this level.

Chris Gallagher

He is exactly what they need.

Albion are short up top anyway and in the Championship next season, they will need proven players - which Vydra is.

He may have struggled at The Hawthorns before but Vydra would be a major player for any Championship side, as he's shown this season, so would benefit West Brom.

Gary Hutchinson

Vydra needs to prove himself at a top club, he's scored for Watford and Derby but as yet, he hasn't done it at a 'big' club.
Are West Brom a big club? Yes, but they'll still be facing trips to Brentford and Millwall next season. A move there screams 'Championship striker' and I would think Vydra wants to be a bit more than that.

Ben Barkworth

Vydra has played brilliantly for Derby this season, but he struggled in his previous spell at West Brom.

He’s only had two good seasons since he moved to England in 2012, so this suggests that he needs a specific system to thrive and the Baggies would have to replicate it to bring success.

Therefore, it wouldn’t be worth it.
