Many fans will have forgotten that young striker James Wilson remains a Manchester United player, following a very short and disappointing loan spell with Derby County.

The young forward’s chances at Manchester United are set to be extremely limited once again, with the youngster behind the likes of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard and whoever Jose Mourinho brings in to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer.

21-year-old Wilson has two years remaining on his contract with the Red Devils, but seriously needs a loan move in which he will become the number one striker, and will be afforded the opportunity to showcase his talent on a regular basis.

Wilson didn’t get much of a look in at Derby, and perhaps needs a morale boosting spell in League One where the striker would be prolific, and relegated Blackburn should consider bringing the player down the road to Ewood Park.

Manager Tony Mowbray is putting together an extremely strong side ahead of Rovers first season back in League One, and the addition of Wilson would make his men clear favourites for the title.

Wilson could easily break the 20-goal barrier in the third tier, providing a timely confidence boost as well as the chance to prove that he has what it takes to succeed at Old Trafford.

Mourinho’s staff can keep a watchful eye on the youngster by keeping him in Lancashire, and a move would be excellent endeavour for all involved.
