The official Instagram page of Brentford has posted an image of Pontus Jansson training ahead of their clash with Fulham, using the caption "building up to Friday night".

The Swedish international has been out since January 11 through injury, with Julian Jeanvier and Ethan Pinnock paired in the centre of defence in his absence.

However, ahead of the clash between the sides third and fourth in the division, the club have issued an update on the defender's fitness.

It was suggested Jansson could return to face Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, but he was not included in the squad for the Bees' 5-0 win at Griffin Park.

The West London club's form has been inconsistent without Jansson, with Thomas Frank's side winning just three of their 10 matches since he been out.

With nine matches to play before the end of the season, Brentford are 10 points adrift of the automatic promotion places and five clear of Bristol City in seventh place.
