Could this experienced striker help aid Rochdale’s play-off push next season?

Chris O’Grady has been released following Brighton & Hove Albion’s promotion to the Premier League.

The striker who spent this season on loan to Burton Albion, is clearly not part of Chris Hughton’s plans and will be looking for a new club ahead of the pre-season.

Brighton had a terrific season in the Championship, finishing in second place behind Newcastle.

The Magpies, pipped the South Coast outfit to the title on the final day, when they beat Barnsley 3-0 and Brighton could only manage a 1-1 draw away at Aston Villa.

After spending the season out on loan at Burton Albion to get regular game time, O’Grady has found himself surplus to requirements at the Amex Stadium, and will be looking to find a new club over the summer before pre-season begins.

One club where he could go to, would be League One outfit Rochdale, where he has previously had a successful loan and permanent spell.

Between the two spells he scored an impressive 31 goals in 90 appearances, and has amassed over 80 career goals so far, showing he certainly knows where the back of the net is.

Dale had a good season under Keith Hill, but narrowly missed out on a play off spot by four points.

Keith Hill has signed a new contract to stay with Rochdale until 2022, and has started to assemble his squad ahead of the new campaign, where he will be looking to go one better than this season and guide ‘Dale’ into the play-off spots.

This season Rochdale relied on Ian Henderson who scored 15 goals and also provided 9 assists for the team, so it could very well be on Keith Hill’s mind to take the burden off Henderson and provide the team with some extra firepower.
