For the past couple seasons, Derby have been hanging around the Championship playoff spaces due to not having enough firepower to push forward during the vital points of the season.

Rams boss Gary Rowett will definitely be looking to put his touch on the current Derby squad, seen as this summer will be Rowett's first transfer window in charge at Pride Park.

Exeter's Ollie Watkins, who is only valued at 128k on transfermarkt, may be the man to help the Rams push forward to promotion.

With Derby lacking that prolific striker up front who can hit over 15 goals a season, with experience and development under his belt, Watkins could be a huge star for Derby.

Scoring 14 goals, and creating a further 12 assists in the League Two campaign, Watkins also won the EFL Young Player of the Year award, which shows how impressive he has been this season.

The 21-year-old's ability to either play as an attacking midfielder or striker would definitely add goals to Derby's squad, his pace, dribbling skills and pace also puts him as an ideal target for Rowett.

Questions could be asked about the Championship may be a big step-up for the youngster, however Derby should be a perfect fit for him due them having experienced forwards such as Darren Bent and David Nugent for Watkins to learn from and help imbed into the first team.

Additionally, Watkins is definitely a realistic target for Rowett, as he would surely be enthusiastic about a transfer up the English divisions, and he would definitely be given a fair amount of first team football at Pride Park.
