Hull City starlet Keane Lewis-Potter is a transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur in the closing stages of the January transfer window, according to the Hull Daily Mail.

It is claimed that Antonio Conte's side want to purchase the 20-year-old, who has five goals to his name this season, and then loan him back to the Tigers for the remainder of the season.

There could be a bidding war though for his services as West Ham United are also interested, although their bid would not include him returning to the MKM Stadium for the rest of the 2021-22 campaign.

Previous owner Assem Allam turned down an £8 million offer from Brentford in the summer for Lewis-Potter, but how much is he worth now and what should new custodian Acun Ilicali accept for the Tigers' prized possession? The FLW team have had their say.

The 20-year-old’s contract runs out at the end of next season, but crucially the Tigers then have an option to extend it until the summer of 2024.

This month, Hull should not be settling for any less than £10 million for Lewis-Potter.

There is a premium to charge Spurs on the fact he is an English young attacking player and they are a club regularly involved in European football.

If Lewis-Potter is sold then Hull’s survival mission could become a little less comfortable, and due to his contract situation the Tigers could be in a similarly strong position on the player this time next year.

Anything less than £10 million should not be accepted and if it was it would demonstrate a lack of ambition from Acun Ilicali.

I wouldn't be paying it but it could take upwards of £15 million for Spurs to prize Keane Lewis-Potter away from Hull this month.

That might seem crazy but there are a number of factors to consider.

First of all, the recent takeover looks to have brought an influx of cash so the club don't need to sell him.

Then there is the contract extension signed earlier this month, keeping him at Hull until at least 2023 with the option of a further season.

Add to that the fact that the Tigers aren't safe just yet and Lewis-Potter looks likely to be a key player in the latter part of the season.

This is a 20-year-old with a big future that has a fresh contract with the club so you'd have to question why the new owner would want to let him leave.

Is he worth upwards of £15 million to Spurs, probably not, but ultimately all that matters is what he's worth to Hull.

Right now, probably somewhere around the £10-12m mark.

The previous regime at Hull were adamant he wasn’t going for less than that, so I can’t see the new owners changing that stance.

Lewis-Potter has been a creative spark in the Championship, too, scoring and creating goals in a side that’s hardly one of the most progressive in the division.

If it was this window, I think Hull could demand that sort of £10-12m fee, but the new owners are ambitious and will probably have something up their sleeve.

A new deal, maybe? That would drive the price up some more, as would Lewis-Potter adding to his goal contributions during the second-half of the season.

In the event of either of those, you are talking about a £15m + deal for the young forward.
