Queens Park Rangers have had a bid of around £250,000 for Alan Judge rejected by Ipswich Town, according to respected journalist Alan Nixon.

The 30-year-old was an important player for Ipswich during the second half of last season and made 19 Championship appearances for the Tractor Boys, but he was unable to save them from relegation.

The midfielder joined Ipswich from Brentford in January on an initial short-term deal, but recently signed a new contract with the club, extending his stay at Portman Road until the summer of 2021.

However, QPR are keen on signing the midfielder this summer and have had a bid of £250,000 rejected by Ipswich, who are keen to keep hold of the player ahead of next season.

So, will Judge leave Ipswich for QPR? We discuss...

Toby Wilding

"Not for that amount, no.

"Judge has only recently signed a new contract at Portman Road, and that should put Ipswich in a strong position to negotiate any offer that comes in for him.

"Given he was one of the Tractor Boys' more impressive players in what was an otherwise disastrous relegation campaign last season, you can't see them wanting to let the winger go cheaply, particularly if they are to compete for an immediate return to the Championship next season.

"That being said QPR should have the financial strength to make an even bigger offer for Judge should they want to, given the windfall they will have received from the sale of Luke Freeman to Sheffield United, something which does arguably make bringing in a player such as Judge a priority for Rangers.

"You do also wonder whether Judge himself could have his head turned by the prospect of an early return to the Championship with another side, and that could make this a long summer for Ipswich."

George Dagless

"Potentially.

"At the end of the day, he's got the chance to work under Mark Warburton and get back into the Championship in an area of the country he already knows.

"He's an experienced player but settling in still comes into things but thanks to all of these factors he'd be just fine.

"He's a good player, too, let's not forget that and he definitely would add something to offer in the Championship still.

"Add to that that he's got the chance to move into midfield with Luke Freeman leaving and you can see why he would be open to a move."

Ned Holmes

"Absolutely, I think Judge would jump at the chance of a move.

"The opportunity to avoid making the drop down to League One and to play Championship football will surely turn the midfielder’s head.

"The Tractor Boys are unlikely to want to lose the 30-year-old, who featured in every league game after joining from Brentford in January, but the last thing Lambert needs in his dressing room is a player that doesn’t want to be there.

"Based on their performances last season, Ipswich are in no way guaranteed for promotion in the upcoming campaign and I think Judge would jump at the chance to move."
