Football League World's Brentford fan pundit Rhys Byron has urged his club to make another January bid for Charlton Athletic striker Lyle Taylor.

The Bees were linked with the 29-year-old back in the summer, only to see four bids knocked back by the Addicks, but after a strong start to the season, Byron wants to see his side try again.

"Taylor is a player that could comfortably fit into our system and our style of play and is a positive attacking player," the regular punter told Football League World.

"It’s no secret we’re in need of a proper out-and-out striker, in spite of Ollie Watkins’ performances this season.

"I’m not aware of any other realistic permanent options available, meaning Taylor presents as the best option for Brentford."

Taylor has missed the last five league games thanks to a knee injury but is nearing a return having recently returned to light training.

In his first six games since helping Lee Bowyer's side to promotion, he needed five goals, following on from the 21 he scored in League One last season.

Brentford have somewhat surprisingly struggled for goals this season, netting just nine in their opening 11 matches, with Watkins scoring seven of those himself.

This weekend sees them welcome Millwall to Griffin Park as they look to get their season back on track, following their defeat to Nottingham Forest before the international break.
