Middlesbrough are set to make a sensational swoop for Everton winger Yannick Bolasie, according to Sky Sports.

Manager Tony Pulis feels his current crop of talent would not get promoted and has expressed the need to add to his side before the 5pm deadline on Thursday, after his side’s opening day draw with Millwall last weekend.

Boro lacked creativity from wide areas in the draw and were narrow and void of any real attacking threat.

Pulis has earmarked Bolasie as the player he sees him as a direct replacement for the outbound 22-year-old and looked in need of a new wide outlet.

With Adama Traore’s move to Wolves confirmed, the club are in need of a replacement, and time is running out fast.

Premier League side Everton could offload the winger with new manager Marco Silva rebuilding the squad in his image.

Boro would face competition from Crystal Palace who are also interested in re-signing their former player.

Would Bolasie be a good signing for Pulis and Boro?

We discuss…

Gary Hutchinson

Ambitious signing, Bolasie is fantastic on his day, fast and direct with a touch of flair too.

He'd be the outlet for Pulis in the absence of Traore, the man expected to carry their quick counters up the field when they get a chance.

I'd like to see him and Braithwaite together too, the Dane has started the season well and looks to be important this season.

Jay Williams

If Middlesbrough can somehow win the race for Bolasie, then that could be the signing of the summer.

With raw pace, impressive strength, plenty of tricks and an eye for goal, Bolasie is the perfect replacement for Adama Traore.

With Bolasie on one side and Martin Braithwaite on the other - with youngsters, Lewis Wing and Marcus Tavernier to come off the bench - Boro will be scoring a lot of goals.

George Dagless

He'd be very good, but I don't know if he'll want to drop down.

If there's no chance of him playing for Everton or for another top-flight side, though, it could just happen.

Jay Taylor

It remains to be seen if he would step down from the Premier League after working so hard to get there.

If he did, then Boro would have themselves one hell of a capture and one who would be a more than adequate replacement for the now sold Adama Traore.

He would add the much-needed flare Middlesbrough relied on last term, and with the likes of Britt Assombalonga and Martin Braithwaite, he could be the final piece of their attacking puzzle.
