Aston Villa could be set to lean on super-agent Jorge Mendes to bring new faces to Villa Park before the transfer window shuts.

Mendes was involved in the transfer process at Wolves last season, helping attract the likes of Diogo Jota and Ruben Neves to Molineux, and the results were fantastic as Wanderers ran away with the Championship title.

At the time, it really rattled Villa with key figures calling on the EFL to investigate their local rivals, which they did and they cleared Wolves of any wrongdoing.

Yet, despite those protests, it appears Villa are going to follow a similar path now, with Sun journalist Alan Nixon reporting that the 52-year old will be making the signings instead of manager Steve Bruce.

Given the success this method had at Wolves, many fans are understandably open to the idea of Mendes getting involved, although some were still sceptical.
