According to the Daily Star, Middlesbrough could be the next destination for Dwight Gayle as speculation over his future rumbles on.

Gayle tore up the Championship last season for West Brom but where he heads next season is still open for discussion, with Boro apparently keen on the forward.

Can our FLW writers see it happening this summer, then? We take a look...

Louie Chandler

"It very much depends.

"I do think Gayle will end up playing in the Championship again next season but whether that is for Boro or not will depend on who is in the dug-out.

"Gayle is obviously excellent in the second tier but if a manager's system does not suit him then there is little point in making the signing."

Toby Wilding

"This could be a tough one for Middlesbrough to make happen.

"West Brom have already made it clear that they feel Gayle is on a 'Premier League' contract, and you wonder whether 'Boro will be able to afford that while still strengthening elsewhere.

"There is also the chance that, having shown in the Championship with West Brom last season, Gayle may now want another crack at the Premier League this year."

George Dagless

"I'm 50/50 here.

"Boro have a better budget than many in the league so could do something but I just don't have that feeling that this is going to happen.

"A loan would make sense but does Gayle want to keep being shunted around the country? Whilst a permanent deal I don't really see. It's a hard one to call."
