Despite his side performing very well in the Championship this season, Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa is planning for the future with young Reading midfielder Andy Rinomhota a target, according to a report on Football Insider.

The Whites have scouted the 22-year-old on a regular basis and are believed to be considering a move for the defensive midfielder, either in January or next summer.

So would Rinomhota be a good addition at Elland Road? Is he needed?

We discuss.........

Ned Holmes

"Yes, I think this could be a smart signing for Leeds.

"Rinomhota has been impressive in the centre of the park for the Royals this season and his style of play–a high-energy, tidy midfielder, capable of effecting play at both ends of the pitch–make him ideal for a Bielsa side.

"At 22, he looks like a player that is only going to get better, so it seems this would be a smart time to bring him to Elland Road.

"You feel at this point there is unlikely to be a huge amount of competition, so it seems like an excellent time to strike."

George Harbey

"I think that Rinomhota would be a really good signing for Leeds to be honest.

"Kalvin Phillips has obviously been excellent for Leeds ever since Marcelo Bielsa arrived through the doors at Elland Road, but they need depth in that area of the pitch if he picks up an injury, for instance.

"Rinomhota has really impressed me since he established himself as an important player in the Royals' first-team - he is a good passer of the ball, he is very solid in defence, and is a similar kind of player to Phillips.

"He is from Leeds too, so he would surely jump at the chance of joining the Whites, although he may have to deal with being a bit-part player for the time being."

“Although there is no doubting Rinomhota’s talent, Leeds may find it beneficial to steer clear of signing the Reading midfielder in January.

“Whilst the 22-year-old was incredibly impressive last season, he has yet to hit top-form during the current campaign despite making 16 appearances for the Royals in the Championship.

“With Leeds having the likes of Kalvin Phillips, Matheus Klich and Jamie Shackleton at their disposal, it could be argued that Rinomhota may struggle to force his way into Marcelo Bielsa’s starting eleven if he does join.

“Therefore, if Leeds are to bolster their squad during the upcoming transfer window, they should be targeting players who could potentially take them to new heights in the not too distant future.”
