Cardiff City are among a handful of clubs keen on signing Celtic winger Jonny Hayes, according to the Daily Mail.

The 32-year-old winger is set to leave the SPFL champions this summer, subsequently alerting Cardiff, Stoke and Preston.

Would the wide-man be a good addition for Neil Harris' Cardiff? Is he needed at the Bluebirds?

Hayes is a very experienced player who has been there and done it, winning many major trophies which would only add to the winning mentality that Neil Harris is trying to construct in South Wales.

Cardiff have many talented attacking players including the likes of Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Junior Hoilett and Gavin Whyte, and Hayes would be another exciting addition to their attacking armoury.

On a free transfer, too, it would surely be worth a punt as he is an experienced winger with a large amount of pace and end product in his locker.

It could be a real coup to bring in Hayes, as there is likely to be so many clubs after his signature on a free transfer this summer.

He's a natural left-sided winger, and his deliveries into the box could be beneficial for the likes of Robert Glatzel and Callum Paterson.

This looks like it could be a smart move by the Bluebirds, particularly as he's leaving Celtic as a free agent.

Harris has got some interesting options on the wing but I think it's an area they should be looking to improve on if they want to battle for promotion next season.

Hayes has shown in the SPFL over the past decade that he can be a real asset, so with Cardiff looking needing to bolster their attacking options this is a move that would make a lot of sense.

The 32-year-old is by no means a long-term option but that doesn't mean he can't do a job for them over the next few years.

I think he could be a decent addition to the Cardiff City team in the summer, although that does depend on what division they're playing their football in.

The Bluebirds are in contention to challenge for a top-six finish this season in the Championship, and I have my doubts as to whether Hayes is good enough to be playing regularly in the Premier League.

He's not had the game time he would have liked to with Celtic, and he'll be eager to get his career back on track at the earliest of opportunities.

He'd be a smart addition if he can hit the ground running with Cardiff, but they'll know that they have a real battle on their hands to land his signature, with both Preston and Stoke City interested in signing the Celtic winger.
