Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa is reportedly keen on signing Feyenoord defender Marcos Senesi, though it is thought he will have to pay around €20 million (£18m) to prize him away from the Dutch club.

The Whites will likely be looking to bolster their options at the back this summer ahead of their return to the Premier League, with Liam Cooper the only centre-back currently in Bielsa's senior squad.

According to Martin Flores from Radio Continental, the Leeds boss is keen on a move for Senesi, Feyenoord's Argentinian central defender.

A report from FOX Sports NL has claimed that the Dutch club don't want to lose the 23-year-old and that the Whites would have to spend around £18 million to sign him.

But would Senesi be a good signing for Leeds? And do they need him?

It’s an interesting link.

Obviously Senesi is a good player and you would imagine he’s good enough for the Premier League, but you’ve got to consider the position he comes into.

He is a left-footed centre-back, which is, of course, the role captain Liam Cooper plays.

It’s unnatural to play with two left-footed players in your back-four and, particularly with Bielsa, you can’t imagine him liking the balance of his side with Senesi and Cooper in the heart of defence.

Of course, he might lean on one to improve with their weaker foot, or even play a back-three, but I struggle to see where Bielsa slots Senesi in without disrupting things heavily.

Do you know the club these 15 Leeds players started their career with?

Well, he's a defender so that's a start for Leeds.

I do think, though, they need to be looking at a Premier League experience option in the middle of their defence.

It's such a crucial position in the top flight when you're coming up against the Sergio Aguero's and Harry Kane's of this world.

For me, whilst he might be an option to bolster the squad, they should prioritise someone with Premier League knowledge or at least English football experience – hence the reason White is so sought-after by Whites fans.

Senesi looks to be a decent player who could be a shrewd addition for Leeds.

He’s only 23 and Marcelo Bielsa is likely to have had a clear look at the player, and the lure of working under the Argentine could be massive for the player.

His versatility to play at either centre-half or left-back would make him a potentially useful option for Leeds, but especially in the centre of defence, a replacement for White could be needed.

It all depends on whether he is able to fit into Marcelo Bielsa’s system, but he looks like he’s comfortable on the ball so that could make him a decent signing for the Whites.
