Nottingham Forest made it five unbeaten with a 3-1 win over Luton Town at the weekend, a result that leaves Sabri Lamouchi's side in fifth place in the Championship, just five points off the automatic promotion places.

Despite Forest's decent form manager Sabri Lamouchi is still looking to strengthen his squad, with a move for Benfica attacker Jota being considered, after the 20-year-old's impressive form has brought him to the attention of a number of clubs in Europe, as per Nottinghamshire Live.

So would Jota be a good addition at the City Ground and is he actually needed by Lamouchi's side?

Ned Holmes

"This could be a really clever move but there is undoubtedly a bit of risk involved.

"Forest need some support for Lewis Grabban but it may be tough to bring someone in that knows they're not likely to be starting games.

"Jota looks an exciting young striker and at 20, there is unlikely to be much concern over playing second fiddle to Grabban.

"My worry, however, is his lack of goalscoring experience. We've just seen a young striker leave the club, in Rafa Mir, as he couldn't cut it.

"Jota has impressed in Portugal but with just two senior goals to his name, he is hardly a guaranteed success."

“This could turn out to be a shrewd addition by Forest if they can convince Jota to make the move to the City Ground in the coming weeks.

“An exciting young talent, the forward has illustrated some real signs of promise during his cameo displays for Benfica this season in the Liga NOS as well as the cup.

“Although it may take Jota some time to adjust to his new surroundings at Forest, he could potentially thrive under the guidance of Lamouchi who has played a key role in developing the likes of Matty Cash and Brice Samba this season.

“Providing that the 20-year-old is able to cope with the competitiveness of the Championship, there is no reason why he cannot play a key role in helping the Reds launch a push for automatic promotion.”

George Harbey

"I think that Jota could be a really exciting signing for Forest if he signed for the Reds from Benfica.

"He looks to be a huge talent who has played a fair share of games for the Portuguese side, and he is likely to have so much talent on the ball like Joao Carvalho has.

"Perhaps the only issue is that Jota is unproven in England and the Championship is a tough league to adapt to, so it could be underwhelming in that respect given the type of strikers they have been linked with.

"Jota can also play out wide too, though, therefore his versatility in the final third could be really useful for Forest, if he is happy to play backup to the in-form Lewis Grabban."
