Last season was once again a case of so close yet so far for Bristol City as Lee Johnson's side narrowly missed out on a play-off place.

But it was another campaign of improvement under the highly-rated coach and they will once again head into the 2019/20 season looking to win promotion.

The summer transfer window will surely be crucial as well and rumour mill is already in action with Motherwell midfielder David Turnbull the latest name to be linked with a move to Ashton Gate by the Daily Record.

The 19-year-old made 25 SPL appearances in his first season with the club, scoring nine times and assisting five more, attracting the attentions on Celtic along the way.

So, would he prove a good signing for the Robins?

We discuss...

Gary Hutchinson

“It’s a signing that has an element of risk.

“Sometimes, players come from the Scottish ranks and flop massively. Think Jason Cummings.

“Then there are players like John McGinn who don’t just settle, but thrive.

“It’s hard to see which Turnbull might be. All I would say is he might get more game time for Bristol City than a so-called bigger club, which is sure to be of benefit.”

George Brooks

"Turnbull is a player with a lot of potential and was outstanding for Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership last season

"He seems destined for bigger and better things, and perhaps a move to England would be a good challenge for him.

"I think he'd be a good signing for Bristol City, but he may find it hard to turn down a move to Celtic."

Toby Wilding

"This could be a good signing for The Robins.

"Turnbull's record is an impressive one, and certainly shows a huge amount of promise for the future given he is just 19-years-old.

"That is something that appears to fit in with Bristol City's approach when it comes to their approach to recruitment, so Turnbull could be a perfect fit at Ashton Gate."
