Barnsley defender Liam Lindsay could be set for a summer move away from Oakwell, with West Brom one of a number of clubs interested in the 23-year-old, according to The Scottish Sun.

The defender played a key part in Barnsley's immediate promotion from League One this season, making 41 league appearances as Daniel Stendel's side claimed the second automatic promotion spot behind champions Luton.

Lindsay's performances in that campaign have led to a flurry of interest in the defender, with West Brom, Stoke and Derby all said to be interested in Lindsay.

It has also been reported that Italian side Brescia, who were recently promoted to Serie A, have made an offer of just over £1million for the defender, who is about to enter the final 12 months of his contract at Barnsley.

So, would Lindsay be a good signing for West Brom.

We asked some of our Football League World writers for their thoughts.

Chris Gallagher

"He would be a very smart signing.

"I expect Craig Dawson to leave in the summer and Lindsay would be an ideal replacement at a fraction of the price.

"He has enjoyed an outstanding season with Barnsley and is ready to make the step up. Lindsay could be a key player in years to come."

Toby Wilding

"This would be a good move from West Brom.

"No team in the top half of the table conceded more league goals than the Baggies last season, which suggests that this is an area that needs addressing.

"Bringing in a defender as solid and reliable as Lindsay, who still has potential to develop further, would go some way to doing that for the Midlands side."

Alfie Burns

"I'm expecting plenty of the old guard to be on their way out of West Brom this summer, so reinforcements are going to be needed, particularly in defence.

"Lindsay would be a great signing for the Baggies and whoever comes in as the club's head-coach would have little problem building a defensive unit around the Barnsley man.

"With his contract at Oakwell running down, it could be an outstanding bargain for Albion."
