‘Could be a good player for the Potters’ – Stoke to benefit from recent development: The Verdict

Published

on

Stoke City have had a shocking start to the season, with only two wins to their name so far in nine starts and currently sit in 18th place some nine points off the current leaders.

A player though who is at last starting to show an amount of consistency is 25-year-old striker Saido Berahino who scored his second goal of the season in all competitions, when he found the net in the 3-2 defeat to Blackburn Rovers at the weekend.

So has the penny finally dropped for Berahino?

We discuss whether his sudden development could be a good thing…

Jay Taylor

Getting his first goal in forever must have done him the world of good and lifted a tremendous weight off of his shoulders.

Scoring again at the weekend, if he can get a run of games together then there is no reason as to why he can’t hit form and get Stoke operating higher up the league.

The confidence he is getting will push him to work harder in training and enjoy his football more so it can only be a good thing.

Gary Hutchinson

I’m not so sure.

He shouldn’t be in the Championship, but he’s wasted his own career.

He missed the penalty, didn’t he?

There’s still a lot of unresolved issues there.

George Harbey

Fair play to Berahino, he’s scored a couple of times this season and had the confidence to grab the ball to take Stoke’s penalty at the weekend – not many strikers who have had his goalscoring form over the last few seasons would have done that.

Okay, he missed, but given time and patience, he could recapture his form and could be a good player for the Potters.
