Steve Cotterill's managerial reign at Birmingham City certainly got off to a flyer last weekend as the Blues beat Cardiff 1-0 at St. Andrew's.

Coming into that game, the Blues had lost 6-1 to Hull City and so fans were probably fearing the worst against the league leaders. Instead, though, the home side produce a good display with Che Adams producing a fine display and a fair few Blues fans are probably feeling a bit more positive now than they were.

That is just one game, though, and now the challenge is to try and build some form over the coming weeks with the Blues heading to Millwall next up in the second tier. The Lions lost to Brentford last time out, of course, and so they will be looking to respond with a win of their own at The Den.

It'll be a tough game, then, and Cotterill has urged his players not to let their performance levels drop for it, with him saying - as per the club's official Twitter account:

The Blues will be looking to keep the positive feeling up with a win this weekend, then, and if they can they'll start thinking about seriously climbing the table.

The Verdict

Cotterill got off to a perfect start last weekend and now there is an expectation that that continues this weekend.

Nothing is a given in the Championship, though, and Millwall will make it tough so the boss will be looking for his players to heed his words.
