Alex McLeish has named Blackburn's Charlie Mulgrew as Scotland captain for tomorrow's international friendly against Costa Rica, which will be his first game as manager in his second spell.

The Blackburn defender, who is also captain at Ewood Park, will lead the side out and is sure to be one of the most experienced players in the side.

Mulgrew has had a fine season for Rovers who are on course to return to the Championship at the first time of asking.

Several uncapped players have been called up, including Wolves' Barry Douglas and most notably Manchester United's Scott McTominay who had turned down the chance to represent England.

Whilst fans were pleased to see those included, along with the other new faces, it's fair to say there was a mixed reaction to the appointment of Mulgrew as captain.

The former Celtic man has been involved in previous failings with Scotland and many Scottish fans won't have seen him play recently as he is in League One.
