Charlton Athletic travel to Priestfield Stadium to take on Steve Evans’ Gillingham on Tuesday evening in the hope of earning their first away points of the season.

The Addicks are only above rock bottom of the third tier on goal difference and with the pressure firmly on Nigel Adkins’ shoulders, a loss could signal the end for the former Southampton manager.

Gills themselves have had a difficult start to the campaign and could be leapfrogged by the Addicks on Tuesday, one place above the drop zone with six points from the opening seven.

Here, we have predicted five changes from the Charlton XI that lined up at Adams Park on Saturday…

A switch back to a 4-3-3 formation with Jayden Stockley dropped for the first time this season, a possibility that Adkins hinted towards in his post match comments at the weekend.

The five changes involve the dropping of: Jason Pearce, George Dobson, Pape Souare, Jonathan Leko and Jayden Stockley. With the following five as replacements: Adam Matthews, Sean Clare, Albie Morgan, Elliot Lee and Corey Blackett-Taylor.

Pearce may well keep his place at the expense of Akin Famewo because the predicted line-up does not have an obvious captain in it. Chris Gunter possibly the most senior player.

Leko and Souare’s fitness was concerning at Wycombe and Ben Purrington and Alex Gilbey are likely to remain unavailable.
