Cardiff City remain disgruntled with the decision taken by Derby County to postpone their Championship clash yesterday afternoon, with Derbyshire Police now ruling out that they had anything to do with the cancellation, according to The Guardian.

The EFL have contacted both clubs for their observations on the decision while Derbyshire Police have said the decision was taken ‘independently’ by the club due to the poor weather and concerns over safety to supporters who were to travel to the stadium.

The game was postponed at around 8:30am on Sunday morning and naturally Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock was incensed with the ‘scandalous’ decision made by the East Midlands-based club.

Warnock told Sky Sports News: “We came up yesterday and obviously the snow had come down, but I think it’s a disgrace if I am honest. There is nothing here. The car parks are clear, the shops are open.

“I am very disappointed but not overly surprised to be honest. I heard their manager the other day talk about an injury crisis so it’s not overly surprising to be honest.

“In terms of safety? We’ve come up from the middle of the countryside on the coach and the roads have been perfectly fine, so I just don’t get where they are coming from with this.”

The police have now moved quickly to quash any involvement in the incident and they said in an article by The Guardian: “For clarity, Derby County Football Club took the decision to postpone the match due to weather conditions and the health and safety of peopled travelling to the ground. The club made this decision independently. It was not made by the Derbyshire Constabulary.”

Both sides are now set to have a backlog of fixtures to squeeze in during the month of April and with Cardiff looking to cement their automatic promotion place it seems somewhat understandable that their manager is so frustrated at the decision.
