Aston Villa co-chairman Tony Xia has taken to social media to send a cryptic message regarding the West Midlands club.

The club were in turmoil this summer after they lost the play-off final to Fulham in May, which meant they were in serious financial trouble.

Xia claimed he was suffering from cash flow problems and despite preventing the club from falling into administration, it was clear their long-term future was in doubt whilst he remained as the sole owner.

That prompted the businessmen to seek fresh investment from elsewhere, with billionaire duo Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris ploughing money into the club.

As a result of that, Xia was no longer the majority owner, although he did remain involved with the club as co-chairman.

However, his influence at the club is now seriously reduced and that was evident with his latest twitter post.

It read; "No matter what happened????, you cannot disappear from my world. ❤️," with many thinking he was referring to the football club.

Some also suggested it could mean that he is thinking of selling all his shares in Villa.

The Verdict

Despite what has gone on, few can doubt that Xia actually had the best interests of Villa at heart.

Obviously, he's made some awful decisions in his time, but he was prepared to pump serious money into the club and had a real connection with the fans at one time.

Ultimately though, those bad decisions but the club in jeopardy and it was the right decision to seek fresh investment and it wouldn't be a surprise to see Xia move on completely in the coming months.
