This weekend the Championship resumes after the final international break of the calendar year, and it gets back underway with a bang as Aston Villa host Birmingham City.

Dean Smith takes charge of his first Second City derby on Sunday afternoon looking to rack up a fourth win since taking charge at Villa Park.

As the two teams get set to renew their rivalry, the age-old debate will resurface once more as to which players from one team will get in the opposite side’s XI.

It is a debate that never ceases to cause conversation and deliberation between the two sets of supporters.

And with Aston Villa hosting their rivals this weekend, we put a question to their supporters and asked if they thought any Birmingham players would get into your starting XI?

It was a pretty even contest between the two choices the fans of Villa could vote on.

With a narrow majority not letting their pride get in the way as 59 per cent of the Villa fans who voted felt that there were some Birmingham players that would get in their starting XI.

It must be a hard thing to admit to with a rivalry as fierce as the Second City side's, but it shows that they appreciate good players and their close neighbours have some quality in their team the Villa fans would welcome in their group.

Conversely, 41 per cent of the polled supporters felt that there isn’t a single Birmingham player that would be able to make it into their starting XI.

It’s to be expected with the two rivals not wanting their players to cross the divide and play for the other side and with Villa ahead of Gary Monk’s team by one goal.

But with both teams level on points, it would be no surprise if the home side thought they were far superior to their opponents this weekend.
