Derby County have opened talks with PSV Eindhoven ahead of a proposed move for midfielder Bart Ramselaar, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The 23-year-old has been told that he can leave the Eredivisie side this summer, via reports from the Eindhoven Dagblad, having fallen out of favour under PSV boss Mark Van Bommel.

The attacking midfielder made just four appearances for the Dutch outfit last term, but played an influential role under Cocu as they lifted the Eredivisie title in 2017/18.

In a recent interview with Football Oranje, new Rams boss Cocu insisted that he would not be signing any players from PSV this summer, despite his close connections with his former club.

But now, reports from the Daily Mail claim that Derby have now entered talks with Eindhoven over a potential move for Ramselaar, who was left out of the squad for their Champions League qualifier against FC Basel this week.

The Rams have already added another attacking midfielder to their ranks this summer, in the form of Kieran Dowell on loan from Everton, with the club looking to replace the likes of Mason Mount and Harry Wilson who have returned to their parent clubs.

The Verdict

I think that it would be a very good piece of business if Derby were to land a player of Ramselaar's quality to the squad, on what would essentially be a free transfer.

He plays through the middle but also can play out wide, and loves to score goals and create assists for his teammates.

He's at a good age and has plenty of time to grow as a player, and he would flourish under a manager like Cocu who knows how to get the best out of him.
