Leeds United remain firmly in the hunt for a playoff spot, despite a difficult run of early season form which saw the Whites lose seven out of nine Championship games.

Recent wins over Middlesbrough and Barnsley have relieved the pressure on boss Thomas Christiansen, who will look to the January transfer window to bolster his squad ahead of a final push for a place in the top-six.

Leeds have struggled in varying areas across the pitch, including upfront, where Christiansen has failed to settle on a consistent starter following the sale of Chris Wood in the summer.

The likes of Caleb Ekuban, Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Jay-Roy Grot have all been tried in the position, with not a single player laying a claim on the starting spot.

The club have also suffered issues at the back that Christiansen will look to address in the new year, and with managers always on the lookout for a bargain, the Dane may consider targeting these three players, who may be available for a basement price due to their contracts expiring in the summer…

Steven Caulker

The former England international has struggled with personal issues in the past few years, but a change of scenery and a fresh new start may be exactly what the player needs.

Still only 25, Caulker has his best years ahead of him, and with his contract at QPR expiring in the summer, Christiansen could be tempted to launch a bid for the commanding defender.

A former Tottenham academy star, Caulker could rebuild his career in West Yorkshire, with a club with aspirations of breaking into the Premier League once again.

Leeds could afford his wages, and QPR manager Ian Holloway may sell as to not lose the player for nothing in the summer.

Bakary Sako

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers man was fantastic during his spell with the Black Country side in both League One and the Championship, but is resigned to the bench at current club, Crystal Palace.

With Samu Saiz and Ezgjan Alioski playing well, adding Sako to the mix on one of the flanks would provide the Whites with one of the most dangerous attacking trios in the country, and Christiansen would be guaranteed goals.

With his strikers struggling, goals from midfield are growing increasingly important for the Danish boss, and Sako is certainly a man capable of providing them in abundance at this level of the game.

Amari’i Bell

Linked with a number of Championship sides in the summer, Fleetwood Town full-back Amari’i Bell has continued to prove himself as one of the brightest young defenders in the Football League.

Pacy, and able to join the the attack, Bell would be a wonderful addition to a Leeds side that have struggled for consistency at left-back this season.

With his contract expiring in the summer, Fleetwood boss Uwe Rosler may be keen to cash in on the player and reinvest the money elsewhere as he aims to guide his side into the top-six in League One once again.

Bell has vast potential and current ability, and could become the Whites first choice left-sided defender for years to come.
