Luke Hyam's contract negotiations with Ipswich Town have broken down, with his contract set to expire in the summer, according to TWTD.

Hyam's contract has a clause that allows the club to extend his deal by another year, but Mick McCarthy was keen to tie him down to a longer contract.

However, talks have now broken down over a long-term deal, meaning that his deal is likely to just be extended by a further year.

The 24-year-old has played 18 times for the Tractor Boys this season after finding game time hard to come by earlier in the campaign, resulting in a loan move to fellow Championship side Rotherham United.

The Tractor Boys currently sit 8th in the Championship but with eight points behind them and Sheffield Wednesday, and just four games to play, back-to-back top six finishes looks very unlikely.
