Football Insider is reporting that Middlesbrough have offered Daniel Ayala a new deal, which could be of interest to Leeds United.

The Whites are looking to get themselves back into the Premier League at the end of this season and one area people feel they need added depth is at centre-half.

With Ayala's contract at Boro expiring this summer, then, he might well be on the brink of leaving Teesside but it sounds as though Middlesbrough are eager to tie him down.

And, that in mind, it could be a slightly tougher task for Leeds to get him in now, if Ayala decides to put pen to paper instead of walking away from the club.

The report reveals he and Victor Orta have discussed a potential move to Elland Road in recent times so there appears to be interest, it just remains to be seen if this sparks the Whites into life.

The Verdict

Ayala is a good defender and could play in the Premier League for Leeds, for sure.

If Ben White is kept, though, and Liam Cooper remains skipper which he surely will, it is hard to see Ayala getting guaranteed starts given Bielsa's loyalty and he'll surely not move unless he is going to play.

It remains to be seen how this plays out.
