Peterborough United midfielder Brad Inman has had his contract cancelled by mutual consent, announced the club's official website.

Inman had previously been placed on the club's transfer list at the end of last season, after spending the campaign on loan at Rochdale.

The 26-year-old made 37 appearances at Spotland last season racking up an impressive four goals and ten assists, and in the season before joining Posh from relegated Crewe he scored ten League One goals.

The Australian made just 18 appearances for Peterborough United since moving to London Road two seasons ago as one of the Football League's hottest properties.

But after suffering a fractured leg in a pre-season friendly, he struggled badly for game time, and did not make his league debut until mid-October.

The verdict

This is best for both sides as it relieves the Posh of some wages and, more importantly, it gives Inman free reign to find his next club.

Inman was never given much of a chance at Peterborough. After coming back from injury he was well down the pecking order and was always going to struggle to get games.

He showed at Rochdale what he is capable of, and would be a great signing for a lot of clubs in League One.
