‘Consistent and outstanding’ – Many Birmingham fans get involved in best performer debate

Birmingham City supporters have been debating who they think has been the standout performer for Pep Clotet’s side in the Championship so far this season.

The Blues have endured an inconsistent start to the season having won eight, but also lost ten of their opening 22 Championship matches, which was perhaps to have been expected considering Birmingham parted company with manager Garry Monk and lost last season’s top scorer Che Adams in the summer.

Clotet has performed well enough in his spell as caretaker to be named the Blues’ new permanent head coach, and the Spaniard will be looking to find some more consistency from his side during the rest of the campaign, following a run of just one win in their last eight Championship matches.

There have been some standout performers for the Blues so far this term, with Jude Bellingham an example having emerged as a crucial member of Clotet’s squad, with the 16-year-old registering two goals and an assist in 18 Championship appearances so far this campaign.

Kristian Pedersen is another player who has been an impressive performer for the Blues so far this season, with the left-back an ever present for Clotet’s side, while also managing to contribute three important goals, which highlights his attacking quality on the over lap in support of attacks.

Another player be mentioned by Birmingham fans as the club’s standout performer so far has been summer signing Ivan Sunjic, with the midfielder slotting straight into the Blues’ midfield and demonstrating his technical quality and reading of the game, whilst he has also chipped in with two goals in his opening 21 appearances in the Championship.

Marc Roberts is also a contender for one of the Blues’ best performers so far this term, with the defender managing to form an effective partnership with both Harlee Dean and then Jake Clarke-Salter, before he was forced of injured during Birmingham’s 1-1 draw with Millwall a few weeks ago.
