Charlton Athletic midfielder Conor Gallagher has sent a message to teammate Jonny Williams following the Welshman's recent performance in Euro 2020 qualifying.

Ryan Giggs' side came from behind to draw 1-1 with Croatia on Sunday night, a match in which Williams started, and after he shared his post match thoughts on Instagram, his Charlton comrade responded.

In the picture, the 26-year-old can be seen skipping past current best player in the world Luka Modric, a photo he captioned: "Another point gained last night against a top side. Fans fantastic once again. Big congrats to Ben Davies on getting his 50th cap."

But Gallagher was far more interested in the visual part of the post, commenting: "See ya, Luka".

Both players have been absolutely essential in Charlton's success this season, together making up half of what has been an excellent midfield unit.

Arriving on loan from Chelsea in the summer, Gallagher has already notched four goals and one assist in the Championship, whilst Williams has popped up with four assists of his own.

He made the initial transfer to The Valley from Crystal Palace during the January transfer window before signing a contract extension in the summer.

Lee Bowyer's side currently sit in tenth place with 11 matches played and will have the chance to jump into the top-six this weekend with a win against Derby.

The verdict

It is no surprise that the Charlton midfield has clicked as well as it has when the bond between the players is clearly so strong.

Of course, it is a bond that will have been helped by the good form, but actions like this will only help maintain it and, ultimately, the club's fine form as well.

The Addicks are already over achieving this season and it is important that that is remembered if a troublesome patch is hit this season.
