Ipswich Town moved themselves above Portsmouth in Sky Bet League One on Tuesday night with a 4-0 win at Fratton Park.

Goals from Macauley Bonne, Conor Chaplin, Sone Aluko and Wes Burns were enough to hand the Tractor Boys the emphatic victory down in Hampshire, with Town now sitting in 13th place and looking up the table having certainly arrested their early-season struggles in recent weeks.

For sure, it was a good result for the away side and a particularly poignant game for Chaplin who was facing one of his old employers in Portsmouth on the night.

He's taken to Twitter, too, to thank both the travelling Ipswich fans for their support and for the reception that he received from the home fans - with it also clear he enjoyed playing under the lights at Fratton Park once more:

The Verdict

It was a really positive night for Ipswich Town and their fans and players, with them coming away from a potentially tough fixture with an eye-catching scoreline.

Of course, Portsmouth are struggling at the moment and have some work to do to get up to where they want to be but Fratton Park, as Chaplin will well know, is a tough place to play no matter what the situation and so to get such a result is a real boost for the Tractor Boys.
