Ipswich Town gained a much needed victory over Shrewsbury Town on Saturday at Portman Road.
Summer signing Conor Chaplin broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute as the Tractor Boys took the lead in each half and held on in the second to win 2-1.
The three points took Paul Cook’s men up to 14th place, building a four point gap ahead of the relegation zone and closing the gap on the play-off places to six points.
In what has been a very difficult start to the season the relief was clear to see from the players at the final whistle with Chaplin opening his account in the league.
The versatile forward took to Instagram to express his emotions after the crucial three points.
He wrote: “+3 and a ⚽️ doesn’t get much better.”

Chaplin came in with a big reputation along with a lot of other players this summer after he played an important role in Barnsley’s run to the play-off semi finals last term. Paul Cook would have been a pull factor in Suffolk having worked with the 24-year-old when he was making his name in senior football at Portsmouth.
