Chaplin came in with a big reputation along with a lot of other players this summer after he played an important role in Barnsley's run to the play-off semi finals last term. Paul Cook would have been a pull factor in Suffolk having worked with the 24-year-old when he was making his name in senior football at Portsmouth.

The Verdict

Despite the loss of Bersant Celina to international duty Ipswich produced an assured performance to ease past the Shrews, the game played out more comfortably for the Tractor Boys than the scoreline suggests and Chaplin's finish got the ball rolling in that respect.

There has been a lot of pressure on Ipswich from the first game of the season due to the household names they brought in over the summer, now looking up after back to back wins Paul Cook and his players can breathe a bit easier and start building confidence as they look to close the six point gap between themselves and the play-off places.
