Wolves midfielder Lee Evans has extended his stay at Molineux for a further three-and-a-half years after signing a new contract with the club, as confirmed by the club's official website.

22-year-old Evans was rewarded a new contract after making some impressive performances under new manager Paul Lambert.

Evans has made 10 appearances this season after returning from injury and certainly appears to be in Lambert's plans for the future as the club look to move up the league.

On signing the new contract Evans stated: "I’m happy it’s done now, it’s a big weight off my mind and it’s fantastic for me and my family. Now I can focus on the rest of the season and try and play as much as I can. I knew I had to play well whenever I had the chance. I’ve had a few opportunities under the manager so I need to keep performing whenever I’m on the pitch."

Manager Paul Lambert said on the contract news: "He's still got a lot to learn but he's got terrific potential and he's a brilliant passer of the ball as well as a physical presence. He's still a young lad but hopefully he keeps getting better and better."

Wolves are certainly not short of depth in the midfield department - Dave Edwards, Jack Price, George Saville and Romain Saiss will provide competition for places; a necessity to a successful side.

Wolves currently sit 18th in the Championship and host Wigan Athletic tonight at Molineux.
