Hull City have today confirmed the signing of West Ham United defender Reece Burke for an undisclosed fee, announced the club's official website

Burke joins on a three-year deal and becomes the Tiger's second signing within 24 hours after bringing in winger David Milinkovic yesterday.

The 21-year-old had been at the Hammers since he was nine-years-old but is delighted to be joining Hull.

"I’m over the moon to have signed for Hull City,” he told the club's official website.

"I enjoy playing football and I see this move as a big opportunity for me.

"I’ve had a good chat with the Head Coach and I know that the Club were really keen to bring me here. That is a nice feeling to have.”

Burke made three appearances for the Hammers last season, all of which came in the FA Cup before he was loaned out to Bolton Wanderers for the season.

There, he made 25 appearances and became a regular in Phil Parkinson's defence.

This takes Nigel Adkin's summer recruits up to three after he signings of Milinkovic and Eric Lichaj.

The verdict

This is a terrific piece of business for Hull.

Centre-back was looking like a real problem area for them in the coming campaign with just Ondrej Mazuch and Angus MacDonald regulars in that position.

Burke is both an excellent addition and an excellent investment. If he thrives at Hull he will help fire them up the table and could turn into a very fruitful sale.
