West Bromwich Albion duo Kane Wilson and Jack Fitzwater have both signed for Walsall on a season-long loan.

In a statement on the West Brom website, the club announced that the youngsters had both joined the Saddlers for the 2018/19 season.

Fitzwater, who recently signed a new two-year contract at the Hawthorns, spent the first half of last season on at Forest Green Rovers and the latter stages at Walsall, making a combined 35 appearances for the sides.

The 20-year-old centre back featured in West Brom’s 3-0 pre-season victory over Barnet, alongside Wilson in the Baggies defence.

Wilson has been on the books at West Bromich Albion since the age of seven, but is yet to make an appearance for the Baggies first team.

The 18-year-old full back spent last season on loan at League Two side Exeter City, where he made 22 appearances for the Grecians.

The Verdict

Whilst both players are still very young and early in their careers, it would have been interesting to see what they could have achieved in the first team this season.

But, a loan move to the same club makes sense as the both will gain valuable experience alongside each other in the defence, which could help the Baggies in the long run.

Darren Moore has made a number of high profile signings this summer, and will be hoping that his new look squad can bounce straight back to the Premier League first time of asking.
