Confirmed team news: Portsmouth XI revealed ahead of Wimbledon clash

Published

on

Portsmouth face another big game in their battle for a League One play-off place on Saturday afternoon, as they make the trip to Plough Lane to face AFC Wimbledon.

Danny Cowley’s side go into the game sixth in the League One table, one point clear of seventh placed Oxford and two ahead of Charlton in eighth, although the Addicks do have a game in hand.

As a result, Portsmouth do come into this one under a considerable amount of pressure, especially given they have won just one of their last six games, after John Marquis’ late own goal to hand Accrington a draw in midweek.

Does Fratton Park have a higher or lower capacity than these 18 grounds?

Is Plough Lane bigger or smaller than Fratton Park?

Wimbledon meanwhile, go into the game unbeaten in their last six outings, and know that they will guarantee their place in League One for next season if they avoid defeat.

Perhaps with that in mind, Cowley has named a Portsmouth side that shows three changes from the one that drew 3-3 at Accrington on Tuesday, as Paul Downing – making his first league start of the season – Lee Brown and Ryan Williams replace Rasmus Nicolaisen, George Byers and James Bolton.

Here, is a look at the full Portsmouth team news for this afternoon’s game:

Starting Lineup: MacGillivray; Johnson, Downing, Raggett, Brown; Naylor (C), Close; Harness, Williams, Curtis; Marquis

Substitutes: Ward, Bolton, Nicolaisen, Daniels, Cannon, Byers, White
