Swansea have announced that Graham Potter is their new manager, with the Englishman signing a three-year deal at the Liberty Stadium after joining from Ostersunds.

Despite enjoying a playing career in the UK, Potter made his name in Sweden, taking over Ostersunds in Sweden.

Under his guidance the small club rose through the leagues to the Swedish top flight, won a cup and shocked several big sides in a remarkable Europa League campaign, playing exciting football along the way.

They caught the attention of British fans with a win against Arsenal last season at the Emirates Stadium in the Europa League, although the Gunners advanced through the tie.

That prompted the Swans to make a move for the 43-year old and he will be joined in Wales by two members of his backroom team, Billy Reid and Kyle Macaulay.

Speaking to the official site, Potter outlined his ambitions for the club.

"We will try our best and work hard every day to give the supporters a team they can feel proud of; they can connect with and see are trying to improve."

The Verdict

This is an exciting appointment from Swansea who are clearly trying to rediscover the identity that made them so successful all those years ago.

Potter may not have experience in England but you can't ignore the job he's done in Sweden and he certainly appears ready to make a step up.

Now, he will focus on assessing his squad ahead of pre-season and the kick-off in August.
