The club's official website has confirmed that Wyke joins Sunderland for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old scored 16 goals for the Bantams last season and finished his time at Valley Parade with a total of 23 goals and 13 assists in 62 outings for the club.

Prior to that, the former Middlesbrough academy product enjoyed a prolific spell at Carlisle United, scoring 39 times in 89 games for the League Two side.

Wyke becomes Sunderland's 11th signing of the summer with Jack Ross getting busy in the transfer market since arriving at the Stadium of Light from St Mirren.

The North East born forward will compete with Jerome Sinclair, Andrew Nelson and Josh Maja up front for the Black Cats.

Bradford have signed Eoin Doyle from Preston North End for an undisclosed fee as they moved quickly to replace Wyke.

The Verdict

Wyke is exactly what Sunderland needed.

Not only does he have a proven track record of scoring at this level, he also has valuable experience, which Nelson, Sinclair and Maja lack.

Combining Wyke's youth and experience alongside the raw talents of the other three give Ross some decent striker options for his promotion bid.
