Sheffield Wednesday have made the first major Deadline Day signing – with Derby County striker Jack Marriott joining the Owls on loan.
The 26-year-old has endured a difficult time at Pride Park since the arrival of Philip Coco last summer, making just 13 starts in the Championship, and has scored just once in six Rams appearances this term.
Marriott was outstanding during his first campaign with Derby, scoring 13 times under Frank Lampard, including a memorable brace in the play-off semi-final victory at Leeds United and then the consolation against Aston Villa in the final.
However, it’s been a difficult period for striker since the departure of Lampard, and Yorkshire Live believe that Wednesday have beaten off competition from Championship rivals Swansea, Cardiff, Middlesbrough and Millwall.
After successfully undergoing his medical at Wednesday’s Middlewood Road training base this morning, he’s moved to Hillsborough on a season-long loan deal.

The tricky 8-question Derby County trivia quiz: Can you get 8/8?
This is an absolutely terrific signing for Wednesday, and one that I’m hugely surprised that Derby have allowed to happen.
Wednesday are been in desperate need of a natural goalscorer and Marriott provides exactly that. He’s been through a tricky spell with Derby and he’ll no doubt arrive at Wednesday with a point to prove.
His pace and finishing ability could help the Owls go some way to overturning their 12-point deduction and getting them out of trouble.
