Norwich City have confirmed the signing of Sheffield Wednesday striker Jordan Rhodes on a season-long loan, the club have announced on their official website.

He becomes Daniel Farke's sixth signing of the summer after the arrivals of Emi Buendia, Moritz Leitner, Teemu Pukki, Ben Marshall and Felix Passlack.

The 28-year-old only joined Wednesday at the start of last season after failing to find his feet with Middlesbrough.

Speaking to the club's official website Rhodes said: "It’s a real pleasure to be here.

“It’s a fantastic football club with a great fanbase and if I play a few games this season, it will be a pleasure to do so.

“I’m looking forward to getting settled and starting up and playing a few games with the team. I’m really looking forward to pulling on the yellow and green jersey."

Rhodes has plenty of experience when it comes to playing in the Championship having made over 230 appearances and scored nearly 100 goals in the division.

The Scot's arrival means there will be real competition for places up-front with himself, Nelson Oliveira and Teemu Puki all vying for starts.

The verdict

As far as Championship goalscorers go, there are not many around who have a better record than Rhodes.

He has 99 goals in 238 matches in the division with Ipswich, Blackburn, Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday.

He has not been on his best form over the last couple of seasons, but if he can rediscover that touch he has the power to fire the Canaries right up the table and into promotion contention.
