Sheffield United have announced that they have completed the signing of Everton midfielder Kieran Dowell on a loan deal.

The Blades announced the signing on their official website, and Dowell is certainly a signing to be excited about going forward this season.

Dowell is yet to feature for the Toffees in this season, and he definitely would have been eyeing a move elsewhere ahead of the January transfer window.

The creative midfielder has a considerable amount of experience of playing in the Championship, having represented Nottingham Forest last season.

His spell at the City Ground was a successful one as well, as Dowell scored nine goals and was on hand to provide assists as Forest finished mid-table.

But with his lack of game time at Everton this season, he will be keen to get some regular game time under his belt and a move to Sheffield United will be the perfect move.

Dowell has the creativity to unlock defences with ease, and will add some attacking firepower to an already dangerous looking Sheffield United front line.

He could be in line to make his first appearance for the Blades at some point in the New Year, with his deal to be complete on January 2.

The Verdict

This is an excellent bit of business by Sheffield United.

Dowell has already proven himself in the Championship and he could play a crucial role in their promotion push this season.

His creativity could be exactly what the Blades need to provide the front two with the service they need to fire Chris Wilder's side back to the Premier League.

It's an excellent move for both parties involved.
