Reading have completed the signing of Saeid Ezatolahi, the club's official website has confirmed.

Ezatolahi signs for Reading on a season-long loan deal from FC Rostov, who play in Russia.

In his career to date, the 21-year-old has played for Malavan (in Iran) before joining Atletico Madrid and playing for their reserve sides.

FC Rostov signed Ezatolahi in 2015 and he has since been loaned out to Anzhi Makhachkala and Amkar Perm.

The 27-cap Iran international was recently in action for his country during their brief stay in the World Cup finals in Russia this summer, where he played twice - against Spain and Portugal.

Reading manager Paul Clement is excited to capture the young midfielder and has described him as "a strong, powerful central midfield player with good technical ability".

Ezotolahi becomes Reading's eighth summer signing and joins on deadline day as the Royals desperately try to improve their current league position of 23rd.

The Verdict

Ezatolahi could turn out to be an unexpected gem or a disaster.

His lack of experience in England will be a concern for a Reading side who have started the season poorly, but Clement will be hoping he quickly adjusts to the demands of the Championship.

The midfield man will be hoping to add some tenacity in the middle of the park.
