Reading have today announced that teenage centre-back Gabriel Osho has joined National League side Maidenhead United on loan until March 24.

The 19-year old has been a regular for the Royals U23 side this season in the Premier League 2 division and has impressed on several occasions.

However, he will now be linking up with Maidenhead for the next month and those competitive games could be crucial in his development.

The defender joined today and has been registered in time to feature for their game tomorrow.

It will be a baptism of fire for the youngster if he gets the nod, as the Berkshire side are making a trip to league leaders Macclesfield.

Yet, Maidenhead will be hopeful of causing an upset having won three of their last four which has given them an outside shot of making the play-offs.

Whether Osho goes into the starting XI tomorrow remains to be seen but he will be available for the next six games for the National League side in what is a very busy period for the team.

The Verdict

This is a great move for Osho as it will take him out of his comfort zone and provide a real mental and physical test.

The style of play will be different and he will have to quickly learn to adapt in a new environment.

In the long-term, it will be an experience that can enhance his game and he now needs to be ready to step in and play for Maidenhead when called upon.
