Bury have completed the signing of promising young Rangers midfielder Jamie Barjonas, who will join the League Two club on-loan until January.

The 19-year-old, who rose throught the ranks of the Glasgow giants, has featured for the Scottish Premiership side in the past few years, making nine first-team appearances in total.

However, new Ibrox boss Steven Gerrard has made major changes at the club, which has seen Barjonas fall down the pecking order.

Therefore, he sanctioned a move for the teenager to join Ryan Lowe at Bury, with the Shakers boss revealing to the official site that he came with a glowing reference from the Liverpool legend:

"I think when someone like Steven Gerrard recommends to you a midfielder with the career he has had then you don't look twice at it; you've got to take it, and that's what we've done."

The youngster has already trained with Bury and Lowe revealed that he did enough to convince them to do a deal:

"Jamie came down to train with us for a few days, and he was outstanding in training; he fitted the bill for what we are after. I'm really looking forward to working with him from now until January."

The Verdict

This is a very good signing for Bury, and it's also a good move for the player and Rangers too.

Barjonas should get regular football in League Two and it will only help his development playing in such a competitive league.

It's down to him to establish himself in the side and an impressive spell in England will surely be noted by Gerrard.
