Queens Park Rangers defender Osman Kakay has signed a new two-year deal at Loftus Road, as announced by the club's official website

The 21-year-old's current deal was set to expire at the end of the season but he will now remain an R until at least 2021.

"I have been here for 13 years and see QPR as my home so I am delighted to extend my stay," Kakay told QPR's official media.

"I have played six games this season and am very hungry to play more for the club.

"I have seen what it takes to play at first-team level and I hope there are more opportunities to come."

Kakay has made six appearances in total this season, three in the league and three in the League Cup, starting the club's first three games of the campaign.

All three ended in defeat and included the 7-1 thrashing received at the Hawthorns against West Brom to leave QPR rock bottom of the league.

He has not made the matchday squad for McClaren since the 3-0 loss to Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium back in September.

The Verdict

This is definitely a good move.

It takes away any chance of him leaving in the January transfer window and with the R's set to face a transfer embargo, they cannot afford to lose any players on the cheap.

Kakay is yet to really impress so far this season but still has plenty of time in which to do it.

Players like Angel Rangel are perfect mentors for him and he's sure to be learning despite his omission from recent squads.
