Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Seny Dieng has left Loftus Road to join League Two Stevenage on-loan for the coming season, the Sky Bet Championship club have announced.

Dieng becomes Stevenage's 15th signing of a very busy summer and their first loan signing.

He joins a long list of players to depart QPR this summer, which include Alex Smithies, James Perch, Jamie Mackie, Jack Robinson, Nedum Onuoha and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas.

The 23-year-old started his career in Switzerland, featuring for a number of clubs.

He then moved on a free transfer to MSV Duisburg, where he made just two appearances before moving to Loftus Road in the summer of 2016.

QPR have recently been hit with a transfer embargo for breaking Financial Fair Play rules, which is hanging over the club as they look to conclude some of their own business.

Steve McClaren's QPR start the season against Preston North End tomorrow.

The Verdict

Despite QPR's transfer problems, this is clearly a player they can afford to loan out for next season.

Dieng clearly was never going to get game time ahead of Matt Ingram and Joe Lumley so it makes sense, especially at the age of 23, when he really should be playing regular football.
